A first of its kind PhD program by an American at the University of Sydney will look at the politics of shark attacks. The research will focus on high profile shark bite incidents in Australia, the United States and South Africa. In each country, beach policies, shark conservation policies and shark control policies have been impacted by media coverage and public response to the shark incidents.
